About:

We want to know if we punish and blame a person in the group less comparing to a situation when that person is alone. We are looking then into psychological and brain imaging studies, and accounts of diffusion of responsibility as well as punishment, to address this questions.

Keywords: Diffusion of responsibility, Group perception, Punishment

Background:

Do we perceive a person in a group less guilty for any kind of immoral act? How does our brain perceive groups and responsibility in them? What is the computational mechanism underlying that? This project deals with the uncertainties of judging groups, rather than individuals.

At this stage we are:

Testing when and why people may punish someone less when they are part of a group

Developing computational models to explain and predict this effect.
