Humans are distinctively “social”: they can cooperate at large scales, establish complex societies and stable cultures. But if social cognition makes human cognition special, what makes human social cognition special?

In this project, we examine a new characterisation, which highlights not special social contents (say like normative or meta-representations) or special social neural mechanisms, but the distinctive flexibility with which humans deploy them.
